Government never took any step against the interest of people: CM Sarbananda Sonowal

Sonowal attends golden jubilee celebration of Tulsibari Multipurpose HS School

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the Assam government never took any step which was detrimental to the interest of the people of the State. He also assured that in future also the State Government would take no step which could anyway harm the interest of the people. The Chief Minister asserted this while speaking at the golden jubilee celebration of Tulsibari Multipurpose Higher Secondary School at Rangia in Kamrup district today.

The Chief Minister said that during the last three years, the state government took all steps with utmost transparency. His government is committed to ensuring the security and development of the indigenous people of the state and would never compromise in this regard. Chief Minister Sonowal further observed that the forces which were trying to create disturbance in society were enemies of the people. Therefore the society at large would have to come forth with united efforts to defeat all such forces.

Moreover, the Chief Minister said that the world today is very competitive and the students to excel in such a competitive environment must pursue their studies seriously without wasting any time. He also urged the students to indulge in hard work with dedication and commitment to fulfill the dreams of their parents and to take the state in the path of a higher growth trajectory. At the same time, the Chief Minister appealed to the students to involve themselves in sports and cultural activities for the holistic development of their personality. The Chief Minister also referred to various initiatives that were taken up by the State Government including the newly launched ‘Abhinandan’ scheme to benefit the student community.

Chief Minister Sonowal further said that the Act East Policy enunciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened new floodgates of opportunities for the northeastern region. Taking this policy forward the Assam government took up many steps to boost bilateral ties, trade and commerce and cultural exchange with the ASEAN and BBN nations, Sonowal said adding that to reap maximum benefit from these initiatives, the students would have to build their skills and develop capabilities.

Chief Minister Sonowal also underlined the central government schemes and important initiatives including sanctioning of around Rs 23 thousand crore for augmentation of production capacity of Numaligarh Refinery from 3 MMT to 9 MMT, Rs 4600 crore to BCPL as feedstock subsidy for next 15 years and Rs 3500 crore subsidy for oil and gas exploration in the state. The Chief Minister also assured to take necessary steps from the state government to revive the APOL Mill located at Rangia.

Coinciding the occasion, the Chief Minister also released a souvenir along with other dignitaries.

While Minister of State (i/c) for Irrigation Department Bhabesh Kalita delivered the welcome speech, the meeting was also attended by MLA Bimal Bora, DC Kamrup Kamal Baishya, principal, teachers, and students of the School and local people.
