KOKRAJHAR: The Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Mancha (BJSM) on Thursday expressed surprise over the formation of new militant outfit National Liberation Front of Boroland (NLFB) and said that it was unfortunate that despite the BTR Accord signed on January 27, 2020 the new armed outfit had emerged.

The working president of the BJSM, DD Narzary said that the formation of the new outfit could be because of the 'mishandling' of BTC chief Pramod Boro, deputy chief Gabinda Chandra Basumatary, ABSU president Dipen Boro and Executive Member (EM) Ranjit Basumatary to facilitate and ensure peaceful living of the ex-NDFB members. He demanded that the government should bring back all members of the NLFB with safe passage and let them live peacefully with their family members. He also asserted that the security forces killed many innocent people in the name of searching for NDFB cadres in the past and it could be another plot to suppress the Bodos and revive the killing binge.

Narzary said that the founder chairman of the NDFB, Ranjan Daimary was just brought to sign the BTR Accord with parole but after the accord was signed, he was sent back to jail, which was not meaningful for participating in the peace accord. He said that the government paid no attention towards the withdrawal of cases against ex-NDFB members and their rehabilitation. Instead, the security forces were harassing them.

He alleged that many ex-NDFB and ex-BLT cadres were being searched without any valid reason. He also said that many youths were running away to safer places fearing that they might be harassed by security personnel. He demanded that the government should ensure peaceful atmosphere in BTC region and bring back all the members of the new outfit with safe passage and rehabilitate them in a proper manner.
