Government well prepared to tackle COVID-19 outbreak, assures Sarbananda Sonowal

Donkamukam: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday arrived at Donkamukam, West Karbi Anglong to oversee quarantine and isolation ward facilities.

Sonowal landed at the Donkamukam Sports Association Stadium and went to Kuthepi Model School, Kheroni Road where isolation ward has been set up. After returning from there he held a meeting with the leaders of the hills districts represented by HAD Minister Sum Ronghang, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang, MP Horensing Bey, local MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi, EMs of KAAC, Deputy Commissioner of West Karbi Anglong, Sayyad Rehman and representatives of various departments. Later, in an interaction with media persons he said that the government was well prepared to tackle COVID-19 outbreak in the State. “All the persons who have tested positive are getting good medical treatment.” He also ensured that there would be no shortage of essential commodities in the State. He thanked the doctors, nurses, ASHA workers, ward boys and other workers who were working day and night and the media persons for creating awareness among the people. “If we all fight together against this deadly disease, we will definitely win,” he said.

KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang also assured that the hills districts were well prepared to tackle the disease. “The KAAC will give an amount of Rs 90 lakh as one-time financial assistance for 4,000 people stranded outside the Northeast, mostly students.”
