Government will not allow any foreigner to grab our land: CM Sarbananda Sonowal

Dibrugarh: “The BJP government in power will foil the conspiracy of all forces who in the name of opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 are trying to create law-and-order situation in the State,” said Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while addressing a mammoth ‘Sankalpa Samaroh’ here at Khanikar, 6 km away from Dibrugarh town.

Sonowal further said, “Our government is committed to all indigenous people of the State and will look after their interest. As long as our government is in power we will not allow any foreigner to grab our land and threaten our existence.”

Sonowal, however, cautioned all other political forces not to mislead the people with false data and ill-motivated propaganda and create an atmosphere of chaos and uncertainty. Referring to the contribution of great leaders of various indigenous communities of the State, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to take an oath to maintain a conducive environment and an environment of peace and harmony at any cost for further growth and development. “Our sincere efforts and work have built up a sense of confidence and faith among the people of different strata of the society spreading from Barak -Brahmaputra valleys to all tribes and communities,” he said.

Stressing an atmosphere of peace and an academic atmosphere, Sonowal called upon all to help the State Government for maintaining an academic atmosphere so that the future generation could march forward with all academic excellence.

State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma graced the occasion along with the other ministers and MLAs of Upper Assam districts of Dibrugarh Tinsukia, Jorhat, Sivsagar and Lakhimpur. In his address, Sarma also spoke about the conspiracy of some groups with a sole agenda to roll back the process of development, peace, and atmosphere of harmony to anarchy. He appealed to people to thwart the evil design of all those for further growth, peace and development of all classes of people.

Others who addressed the Sankalpa Samaroh negated the claims of all those who have been opposing the CAA by assuring that the State Government was totally committed to the overall development of the State and the indigenous people.
