Governor constitutes PIC, ITDP for Lakhimpur district

The Governor of Assam has constituted the Project Implementation Committee (PIC) of Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) for Lakhimpur district under the Welfare of Plain Tribes & Other Backward Classes (WPT&BC) Department, Government of Assam.

LAKHIMPUR: The Governor of Assam has constituted the Project Implementation Committee (PIC) of Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) for Lakhimpur district under the Welfare of Plain Tribes & Other Backward Classes (WPT&BC) Department, Government of Assam. The constitution of the PIC, ITDP, Lakhimpur was declared through a Governor notification issued vide No TAD/BC/150/2021/3 dated November 17 by Mukesh Chandra Sahu, the Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, WPT&BC Department.

Former youth leader Abhijit Sonowal, resident of Moinapara village under Boginadi area, has been appointed as the chairman of the 28-member PIC while Utpal Mili of Ghunasuti has been appointed as vice-chairman. The district head of the WPT&BC Department and the Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur or his representative will be the Ex-Officio Members of the PIC. On the other hand, the Project Director of ITDP, Lakhimpur will be the Member Secretary.

The functions of the PIC, ITDP will be to select schemes, beneficiaries under various developmental departments funded by the government, to oversee the implementation of the developmental schemes executed by various sectoral departments under the State Government for the benefit of the relevant communities concerned, to ensure the progress of the implementation of the schemes and proper utilization of the grants sanctioned under the WPT&BC Department, to review the ITDP schemes and offer suggestions on the proper utilization of the same to the State Government and to monitor the implementation of the schemes and to report to the State Government through the Project Director of the ITDP.
