Great Assam School shakeout programme held in Dibrugarh schools

DIBRUGARH: Under the aegis of Dibrugarh District Disaster Management Authority, the Great Assam School Shakeout Programme, 2019 was conducted across 100 small, medium, high and higher secondary schools recently.

Six educational blocks were covered under this programme. Teachers and students of the schools participated in the Great Assam School Shakeout Programme mock drills aimed at demonstrating the spontaneous measures one needs to take if being hit by a high-intensity earthquake during school hours. Under the drill, the teachers and students took shelter under the desks and classroom tables at the first blow of the siren, and rushed to the pre-designated open space to assemble as the second siren went off. Demonstrations of how the designated rescue team of a school should rescue anyone injured during the earthquake or unable to exit the building, take them to safety and provide them with first medical aid were also made.
