Grenade Explosion in Digboi Today: One person lost his life and three others have been seriously injured in a grenade attack in Tingrai market in Digboi on Friday (May 14) afternoon. Police have reached the spot and the investigation is on. According to eyewitness accounts, two miscreants came in a bike and hurled a grenade that fell inside a hardware shop. The shop is owned by Turonmal Agarwal.

Narrating the whole incident Turonmal Agarwal said, "Just when I was about to shut the shop at 1 PM, a customer came to my shop asking for a socket. By the time I got back with the socket, a loud explosion happened and then the next thing I see is my customer lying on the ground screaming 'I am dying'. One of my shop employees also got hurt and two persons from the next shop have also been injured".

The dead person has been identified as Manjit Das, 19 years old and the injured are Surojit Talukdar, 22 years old and Ghanshyam Agarwal 32 years old. The third injured person is yet to be identified. The injured are being treated in the hospital.

This is the second grenade explosion/blast in Assam in three days. On Tuesday, May 11 a 12-year-old boy was killed in a grenade blast. The blast took place at Jagun in Tinsukia.

The boy identified as Suraj Hajong was playing with the grenade when it went off. He was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to the injuries.
