GST department nabs Lakhipur businessman in ₹25 crore fake billing scam

SILCHAR: The Assam State GST Department arrested one Ishak Ahmed for allegedly evading GST worth Rs 25 crore through fake billing and fraudulent Input Tax Credit claims. Ahmed was the Director of Khushi Digital Payment Private Limited at Pailapool in Lakhipur. After receiving orders from the Guwahati Head Office, the Silchar unit of the AGST raided Ahmed's business premise on June 14 and seized a good number of documents and computers. Later, on Tuesday, Ahmed was arrested as he failed to produce genuine documents supporting transactions worth Rs 100 crore. Assistant Commissioner of AGST Ronit Roy said that they had seized fake Input Tax Credit worth Rs 15 crore and another ITC worth Rs 10 crore were passed on to other states.
