SIVASAGAR: In a moment of pride and glory for the people of Sivasagar, the district has once again secured the first position in the recently conducted Gunotsav, marking its sixth consecutive year of academic excellence. To honour this outstanding achievement, an official felicitation ceremony was organized today at the International Auditorium of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Panjabari, Guwahati.
The programme was held to recognize and felicitate the schools across Assam that achieved the coveted A+ grade in Gunotsav 2024, a flagship initiative of the Government of Assam aimed at evaluating and improving the quality of school education. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries including Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, Education Minister Dr Ranoj Pegu, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, and other senior officials.
During the felicitation ceremony, Chief Minister Dr Sarma formally announced the results of Gunotsav 2025. In his address, he lauded the collective efforts of teachers, students, parents, and district administrations in ensuring quality education and overall development of the school education sector in Assam.
Sivasagar district, which has consistently maintained its dominance in educational performance since 2017, once again emerged as the top-performing district in Gunotsav 2025. The district’s remarkable feat of achieving the first position for six consecutive years has been widely appreciated.
On behalf of Sivasagar district, the Certificate of Honour was received by Meenakshi Parmey, Additional District Commissioner (Education) & District Mission Coordinator of Samagra Shiksha, along with Devajyoti Gogoi, District Elementary Education Officer of Sivasagar.
Speaking about the district’s continued success, Meenakshi Parmey expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the teachers, school heads, education department officials, and students whose dedication, discipline, and hard work have led to this historic achievement. She also acknowledged the active participation of parents and the community in supporting the education system.
According to official records, Sivasagar District has been consistently ranked first in Gunotsav assessments conducted in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2024, and now in 2025. The district has set an example for others in terms of academic performance, infrastructural development, student engagement, and implementation of qualitative learning practices.
The felicitation ceremony also witnessed the participation of representatives from various schools, education department officials from across Assam, and other stakeholders who were inspired by Sivasagar’s consistent performance and commitment to quality education.
Chief Minister Dr Sarma, in his address, stressed on the need to sustain the momentum of educational excellence and encouraged other districts to emulate Sivasagar’s model in transforming the education landscape of Assam.
