On Tuesday 11 January a drunken youth allegedly destroyed a police vehicle and attacked an on-duty police officer in Guwahati's Basistha area. The youth was identified as Suren Bora.

GUWAHATI: In a shocking incident in Guwahati, a youth started a brawl in between the streets of metropolis's Basistha and allegedly damaged the vehicle owned by the police.

He also attacked the on-duty police officer after vandalizing their car.

Reportedly the youth was under the influence of alcohol at the time when he started attacking the police officers and later destroyed the police vehicle.

The incident took place on Tuesday 11 January in Basistha location of the Assam's Guwahati. The youth boy created such ruckus in between the streets of lane number 13 of Basistha locality which is in the south part of Guwahati.

The young boy was later identified as named Suren Bora, a resident of Guwahati. According to reports he had vandalized Bashistha's police vehicle bearing registration number 112.

Earlier a few days ago during New Year Eve on 31st December 2021, a scooter rider allegedly attacked an on-duty police cop in the area of Ganesh Mandir of Guwahati city. The Ganesh Mandir is located in Ganeshguri of the metropolis.

Just like yesterday's incident, the attacker in Ganesh Mandir was in drunken condition and hit an on-duty police officer. The rider also attacked a female cop deployed in the routine operation.

As per the drive against drink and drive Assam police arrested 31 persons on the occasion of New Year for driving and riding in alcoholic condition.

Since the last few days, the city police have been strict and much vigilant in case of violations of traffic rules. Various new traffic norms have been made compulsory to be followed by drivers and riders and on ignoring and trying to escape, heavy fines are also imposed as a penalty.

In the last few weeks, the traffic police have collected a huge amount as a penalty for not wearing a helmet and riding as the pillion helmet is now made mandatory.
