GUWAHATI: In a major operation, the Bhangagarh police have arrested a fraudster identified as Dipjyoti Bora for scamming multiple women, particularly divorced and financially independent ones. The accused had been operating under false identities, luring women with promises of love and marriage before extorting large sums of money from them.

Dipjyoti targeted his victims through dating apps, where he presented himself as an employee of Oil India, according to police reports. He has reportedly been married and divorced three times, taking advantage of his charm to extract money.

A divorced woman who worked for a private bank was one of the victims who fell for his scam and lost Rs. 6 lakh. Investigations reveal that Dipjyoti has scammed around ten women, collectively looting between Rs. 45 and Rs. 50 lakh in total.

Dipjyoti maintained three rented houses in different locations, despite having no permanent address in Guwahati. To appear wealthy and gain his victims' trust, he often borrowed luxury vehicles from friends. His arrest by the Bhangagarh police marked the end of his fraudulent activities.

As part of the investigation, the authorities have also seized an ALCAZAR car bearing registration number AS01-FK-3237. Dipjyoti reportedly confessed to his crimes during police interrogation. To identify more victims, law enforcement officials have initiated a thorough probe.
