Guwahati: Heroin Worth Rs 3.2 Crore Seized, 2 Traffickers Held

GUWAHATI: Guwahati police seized a huge consignment of heroin at Sonapur on Saturday night.
As per reports, a special team of police led by Jt. CP, Partha Sarathi Mahanta, IPS intercepted a Bolero vehicle (bearing registration Number MN-07D-3257 ), based on specific information, conducted an operation at Sonapur and seized a huge consignment of 100 soap cases of heroin. The net weight of the seized contraband was about 1.324 kilograms, reports said.
The consignment, on the basis of the tip-off, was tracked by the special team from Moreh to Churachandpur and then upto Sonapur where it was seized.
The packets, which contained the heroin, were hidden under a dashboard and inside the car's rear tail lights. A specialist mechanic had to be called for opening the chamber after which the heroin was taken out, reports said.
The cops apprehended four persons connection with the incident. Two of them are mechanics. They were identified as Khaiminlal Touthang (34), son of Ngamsei Touthang of Monnaphai, Churachandpur, Manipur, Seiminthang Mate (37), son of Thongkhojan Mate of Molnom, Churachandpur, Manipur, Paominthang Lhanghal (30), son of Paolet Lhanghal of M. Jamkim, Churachandpur, Manipur and Kailalson Khongsai (35) son of Thangsai Khongsai of Moraphai, Churachandpur, Manipur.
The police, after finding out further linkages after interrogation of the arrested drug traffickers, operations were launched in Guwahati and two persons, who were about to receive the consignment. They were identified as Lulun Kuki (51 yrs), son of Seiboi Kuki of Tuibong, Churachandpur, Manipur and Kamkhojim (56 yrs), son of T. Misao of Phaipijang, Dimapur, Nagaland.
The traffickers used a different modus operandi in this case by using an LMV instead of larger vehicles.
