Guwahati: Man Shot In The Head By Miscreants In Lal Ganesh

Guwahati: On Monday, a group of assailants shot a man in the Lalganesh area of Guwahati.

The victim, who is named Liton Mazumdar, was immediately rushed to Hayat hospital. Mazumdar is currently being treated by the hospital but is said to be in a critical condition.

According to sources, a group of four assailants arrived out of nowhere in a brown Renault Duster bearing registration number AS 01 DJ 9604 and shot Mazumdar.

As per the police reports, Mazumdar conducting his regular business in his jewellery shop when the miscreants suddenly came and shot him in the head.

The matter is still under investigation. 

In other news, the former director of IDOL, Kandarpa Das, has been suspended by Gauhati University after he was accused of being involved in the controversial scam case surrounding the institute.

Kandarpa Das's suspension was decided in a meeting held by the Executive Council of Gauhati University.

The former director is the prime accused in a case regarding the allowance of 23 approved courses by the institute. This matter has put the future of about 70,000 students of the institute in jeopardy.

In addition, an amount of Rs. 39.06 crores had been collected in the name of fees from the students.
