Guwahati: Minor Girl Allegedly Molested By City Cop in Moving Bus

According to reports, a policeman allegedly touched her in an inappropriate manner as claimed by the parents of the victim.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon, 2nd October when the girl with her parents was travelling from an area in Guwahati called Nepali Mandir and heading towards Pan Bazar. The Policeman was moving along with them in the bus who at first gave his own seat to the minor girl showing an act of generosity and kindness after which the girl and her mother even appreciated him by thanking him.

However after sometime the policeman started misbehaving with the girl in the bus by touching her in improperly and unsuitable way making her uncomfortable in the moving bus. The woman who was the mother of the minor girl claimed that her daughter was molested, she also claimed that the policeman was not even maintaining the COVID protocol as he was not wearing mask inside the bus. At the moment when he was caught molesting and touching the girl, he tried to escape near the area of Vishal Mega Mart. But the victim's parents successfully caught him at the flyover of the Pan Bazar and then handed the accused policeman to the police.

The woman who was travelling along with the victim i.e the mother of the minor girl after the shocking incident lodged complaint against that policeman at the Pan Bazar Police station. The incident is very much disturbing and shocking to the girl and parents of the girl and even for the public as the accused himself is a police officer and as everyone knows policemen are public servant, they are meant to protect people and maintain discipline. In situations like this people are often dependent on police to save them from such people involved in molesting and any other crime but after hearing cases like this led to a bad impression of the police and people are unable to trust them regarding safety issues. Many such cases of molestation in bus and other public transport have been occurring in Guwahati making it unsafe for women to travel in the city.
