Guwahati: Police Finds Caretaker's Fingerprints At Crime Scene In Elderly Couple's Murder Case

The police were earlier informed about the murder of the couple by the caretaker himself who claimed that he had entered the house to wake the couple up but had found them dead instead.

Guwahati: In a new development in the sensational murder case of an elderly couple in the Beltola area of Guwahati, the police have found the fingerprints of the caretaker at the crime scene. 

The police commissioner of Guwahati police Harmeet Singh has confirmed this news on Wednesday.

The caretaker identified as Akash Choudhury who had informed the police of the couple's death is considered as the prime suspect. 

On Tuesday, the police had picked up Ashok Choudhury and his wife for questioning at the Dispur Police Station. The police have also arrested three others in connection to the case.

An elderly couple was found dead in their residence in the Beltola Chandanagar area of Guwahati on Tuesday morning. The victims have been identified as Nani Gopal Barua (86), a retired officer, and his wife Mina Barua (80). Reportedly, the caretaker had first discovered the bodies of the elderly couple in their bedroom when he had gone to wake them up in the morning. The couple was found murdered in what appeared to be a case of robbery.

The couple has left behind two daughters, one of which resides in England and the other in Mumbai. 

The daughter residing in Mumbai immediately reached Guwahati upon hearing about the incident and has demanded strict action against the culprits.
