GUWAHATI: On Tuesday 25 January the city police of Guwahati took a major initiative by launching 24X7 Information and Distress Helpline for the citizens across the city.
The people residing in Guwahati city will now get the facility to share with the police officials any credible details on unlawful activities happening in their areas that they wish to share.
The citizens can also reach out to police authorities at any distress situation as per the new 24X7 Information and Distress Helpline initiative.
The Guwahati police have shared two numbers where the citizens can send messages through WhatsApp and the given numbers are 6026901247 and 6026901246.
On speaking about the matter, Harmeet Singh the Commissioner of Police stated that the drug info line by the city police helped in generating good leads in the last few months and now they want to expand the horizon.
The police wanted to increase the horizon and will apply the information from there to provide quick and easy access to all citizens added the commissioner.
He further said that the initiative is taken so that people can easily reach out to the police for support at the time of urgent need by connecting through the given mobile numbers.
The Guwahati police on Tuesday 25 January shared the information of their new 24*7 service through its official Twitter handle.
In the tweet, the Guwahati police shared a poster with the helpline numbers that can be connected by citizens for any help, information or distress.
Earlier Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed the police officials across the state to be strictly vigilant upon all the illegal activities taking place in various locations of Assam.
And after the order from the CM, the police personnel had successfully arrested a number of culprits having their connection with various illegal activities.
