Guwahati: Two women drug peddlers were arrested by a team of the Special Task Force (STF) Assam on Sunday afternoon, after raids were conducted based on credible intelligence. The operation took place at two separate places at 14th Mile which falls under the jurisdiction of Sonapur Police Station.
During the operation, the STF Assam team recovered 7.292 kgs of what is suspected to be ganja, 355 bottles of IMFL of different brands which was made to be sold in Meghalaya only, 30 pre-rolled cones of congo and 44 Gogo ultra-thin paper which are used in the consumption of ganja.
Additionally, the team also seized cash worth Rs. 3910 and three mobile phones. The arrested individuals have been identified as 32-year-old Januka Sonari and 58-year-old Niyati Sarkar. Both individuals are reported to be residents of 14th Mile, Sonapur.
Earlier this month, the Special Task Force (STF) Assam, acting on a specific tip-off, raided 9th Mile, Jorabat, under Basistha Police Station’s jurisdiction, leading to the arrest of a notorious drug peddler, Siva Pradhan, alias Gorei (22), from Bara Killing village, Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 28 vials of suspected heroin, weighing 37.03 grams, Rs 2,700 in cash, and a mobile phone. Legal action has been initiated against Pradhan, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover further details about his drug trafficking activities.
