GUWAHATI: On Thursday 26 April, the Guwahati University (GU) administration issued a notice informing about the upcoming final semester examination of all undergraduate (UG) courses.

As per the official notification, the 6th-semester examination of GU undergraduate courses including B.A, B.Sc, B.Com and B.Voc will commence on 20 June 2022.

The GU authority on admitting that the semester period was not enough to complete the whole syllabus stated that the question paper will be prepared in a way that students can easily attempt.

The question papers for the UG courses will have enough number of options so that students can answer the required no. of questions even if the syllabus is not complete.

It may be mentioned that the 6th-semester classes of all undergraduate courses in Guwahati University started recently after a long gap due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students from different UG courses had raised concerns regarding incomplete syllabus in the final semester as well as in other semesters.

The students suffered a huge loss of learning throughout the period when all offline classes were restricted due to the surge in covid infection.

However, the notice signed by the controller of examination states that the administration has taken the decision of conducting the exams by giving sufficient options in the question paper.

The GU authority considered the matter of incomplete syllabus and framed the question paper accordingly so that students can attempt even if the entire syllabus is not covered, reads the notice approved by the GU Vice-chancellor.

Meanwhile, students in the university were seen protesting against the decision of Professor Partha Pratim Baruah who has resigned from his position of Secretary of University classes in GU.

The protests were headed by student organizations including University Law Students Union and PGSU (Post-Graduate Students Union).
