KOKRAJHAR: The Bathou followers of different parts of the country on Tuesday observed Gwthar Bathou San. In Kokrajhar town, Gwthar Bathou San was celebrated at traditional Bathou Harimu Thanshali at Baganshali. As part of the programmes, the president of Kokrajhar district Bathou Gouthum, Tikendra Basumatary hoisted the Bathou flag while Dr. Adaram Basumatary, principal of Kokrajhar Girl's College paid floral tribute to martyrs of Bathou religion. In his speech, Tikendra Basumatary said Bathou was the most primitive and origin religion of the Bodos spread across different parts of India and Nepal. He said the Bathou had deep philosophy and has great resemblance with nature. The Bodos have deeply aclamatization with the philosophy and thoughts of Bathou.
Basumatary thanked the government of Assam for declaring full holiday on Gwthar Bathou San every year that started from this year. He also thanked BTC authority for taking up the issue with the government of Assam and extending support to build a beautiful Bathou Thanshali in Kokrajhar. Later, Bathou prayer for peace among mankind was also held. Some prominent personalities spoke about Bathou religion, its philosophy and teachings.
