Gymnasium inaugurated at Afala Gaon in Dessangmukh of Sivasagar district

GAURISAGAR: A gymnasium has been inaugurated under the initiative of Dr. BR Ambedkar Sports and Health Centre at Afala Village under Dessangmukh of Sivasagar district on Saturday.

The gymnasium has been established with the patronage of the NEST Foundation. The aim and objectives of the centre is to encourage and promote students and youths in rural areas to participate in sports.

The programme started with lighting of lamp before the portrait of Babasaheb Dr. BR Ambedkar and it was chaired by Dembi Ram Panging, president, Dr. B .R. Ambedkar Sports and Health Centre.

Addressing the gathering, president of Sivasagar Sports Association and renowned social worker PR Mili said that regular practicing of sports makes a person healthy as well as wealthy. He added that for sportsmen there is a provision to get service by relaxing education qualification.

In the function, Sanjoy Upadhay, District Sports Officer who was present as a guest of honour, stressed that new generation can make their career through sports.
