Haflong MLA Nandita Gorlosa reviews works of NHAI in Dima Hasao

HAFLONG: To review the works of NH, particularly in Dima Hasao, local MLA Nandita Gorlosa held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Paul Barua, Assistant Commissioner Ibon Teron, representatives of the construction company at Haflong Circuit House on Thursday.

Due to landslide following heavy rain, at least two ambulances carrying COVID patients and one 108 ambulance, along with other vehicles were stranded for hours between Longma and Kelelo on Wednesday.

This portion of NH 54 E, popularly known as S –turn, has become a matter of concern. Neither NHAI nor the executing company appears to be serious about this portion of NH54, people alleged. People travelling from Maibang often face problems in this landslide-prone area.

The Sourastra to Silchar NH 54 and NH 27 have been delayed by several years for construction of only 49 km stretch from Nriambunglow to Jatinga, Jatinga to Harangajao and Harangajao to Balachara. DC Barua, while talking to media persons, said that he would contact the Regional Officer NHAI soon to take immediate steps to solve the problem at S-turn and also to expedite the ongoing works in Dima Hasao.
