KOKRAJHAR: Mounting a scathing attack, BPF (Bodoland People's Front) chief Hagrama Mohilary has advised State Finance Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to resign from ministership before the BTC election results are out to save himself from humiliation.

Addressing a meeting held at Bijni on Sunday, Hagrama Mohilary claimed Sarma would lose very badly and he will not find a place to hide his face.

He claimed that the BPF will win the BTC election for the fourth consecutive time comfortably. Mohilary said Sarma has boasted of easily capturing power in the BTC by defeating the "peoples' party" - BPF.

"His dream of ruling the BTC will never materialize as his dream of becoming the Assam CM," Mohilary said.

Of late, Sarma has been spearheading the high voltage BJP campaigns in the BTC elections claiming to oust the 17-year-old Mohilary regime and defeat Mohilary in his own strongholds and start a Hagrama-less BJP rule to usher in 'peace, equal rights for all and welfare of all communities and better development' in the region.

Coming down heavily on Sarma, who declared to organize a picnic party in front Mohilary's house at Kokrajhar after the win of the BTC elections, Mohilary said, "Sarma is a vegetarian and a diabetic and his party of picnic would be a flop show as his political dreams in the BTC."

Mohilary also alleged that Sarma was engaged in a hate campaign against the Bodo community and declared he would never allow him to succeed in his attempt to tarnish and finish the Bodo community.

"Pointing out to the use of particular words like, Amar Manuh, meaning non-Bodos, Sarma has been trying to wedge a chasm between Bodos and others in the BTC in a bid to fuel communal frenzy for his selfish target of capturing power by dividing its people," Mohilary asserted.

"It is a deliberate design to malign the Bodos and alienate them from the rest in Bodoland where everyone is enjoying the same status including all government benefits. Our people in the BTC are united under the BPF irrespective of all communities and are aware of evils and diabolic designs of Sarma which will not work in the BTC anymore," Mohilary said adding, "I have a great deal of respect for CM Sir, who has rightly focused on his vision of Assam while distancing himself from personal attacks."

By sticking to his ugly style of mudslinging campaign, Sarma has damaged the prospect of BJP, he said.

"Though he wants to become the CM of Assam rather desperately, the stars are not in his favour as he prefers the backdoor instead of the fair route of democracy," he added.
