HAILAKANDI: The district administration has started the process of distribution of 5 kg rice per head under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). Assistant Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Corporate Affairs, Ganesh Choudhury revealed that the process of distribution of 5 kg rice per person to Antodaya Anna Yojana and Priority Household card holders under the PMGKAY has begun in the district. Choudhury said a total of 5.77 lakh card holders will benefit from the scheme.

Choudhury said distribution of 5 kg rice per head to non NFSA FIC card holders has also started, which will cover 48,400 beneficiaries. "Block Development Officers under the supervision of Circle Officers will be involved to make the entire distribution process smooth and hassle-free," he said.

The official also informed that 1.985 kg of wheat per priority household card holder under NFSA will be distributed in the current month itself. Moreover, 2047.65 quintals of rice under the Atma Nirbhar Bharat for the months of May and June have been allotted to the District Disaster Management Authority for distribution among non NFSA beneficiaries in ward, block and gaon panchayat levels free of cost.
