Hand Sanitisers & Hygiene Products available at Govt. fixed MRP rates

GUWAHATI: Hand Sanitisers & Hygiene Products will now be available at Govt. fixed MRP rates, informed Chemists & Druggists Association of Assam in a letter.

The products have been made available to by members of this association at all "retail Chemists counters that too at MRPs fixed by the government in larger public interest. The association would like to inform the consumers that they can contact pharmacies in their respective areas to procure Hand Sanitiser and other products like Handwash soaps, Disinfectants from Dettol, Savlon, etc. at the prices (MRP) fixed by the government across the state."

The association also raised concerns about hand sanitisers made by people who are not authorised to do so and those who are charging for the same.

"The association however regretted that there have been sudden growth in sanitiser manufacturing companies in different nook and corner of the state and majority of them are producing sanitisers and other products without having requisite licences or expertise. Even they are not following the mandatory norms for manufacturing the health products as recommended by ICMR and Dermatologists."

The current MRP rate as per Government rule is 500ml – Rs. 250 , 200ml – Rs. 100 and 100ml – Rs. 50.

It is important to note that, hand sanitizers can prove effective against germs, but there are some risks that people must be aware of. For hand sanitizers to be effective alcohol content should be above 60% but if alcohol content is below that, hand sanitizers may not prove to be that effective.

Alcohol-based hand sanitizers are classified as Class IFlammable Liquid substances. This means they have a flash point of less than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Hand sanitizer vapors can be flammable.
