Hanuman Jayanti observed with fervour across State

Dibrugarh: The festival of Hanuman Jayanti was observed with great fervour and devotion in Dibrugarh on Friday. On the occasion, the Hanuman Temples, including the ones at Kumarpatty,Thanacharali and Station Road were adorned with lights and other decorations. The devotees of Lord Hanuman - who is synonymous with courage, physical strength and steadfastness - across all ages, were seen visiting the temples from early morning to take blessings of the much popular God who is also known as Sankat Mochan (destroyer of hurdles), and is believed to be the biggest follower of Lord Ram.

The devotees, while worshipping God Hanuman, offered special prayers and chanted mantras including Hanuman Chalisa and Sunder Kaand. Later, many devotees took out a colourful and vibrant procession, starting from the well-known Kumarpatty Hanuman Temple, right through the heart of the town to mark the day. The procession was attended by a host of people, some of whom were also spotted distributing prasad among the bystanders. Although grand, it was managed efficiently by the organisers.

SARUPATHAR: Hanuman Jayanti, an auspicious festival which celebrates the birth of Hindu God Hanuman was celebrated at Hanuman Temple in Sarupathar in Golaghat district. Bajrangbali, as popularly called by most of his devotees, is believed to put an end to all miseries and hardships faced by his devotees. Lord Hanuman’s other names are Sankatmochan, Dukhbhanjan, Maruti Nandan, Pawanputra. This year, the Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated on April 19, coinciding with Good Friday. Lord Hanuman, son of God Pawandev, is described to have superhuman-like qualities in the holy scriptures. He could fly and lift an entire mountain. A devotee of Lord Rama, he played a crucial role in the battle between Ravana in Lanka. On Hanuman Jayanti, people recite the Hanuman Chalisa, which has 40 verses. Chanting ‘Rama’ is believed to bring the devotees closer to Lord Hanuman. On this day, the devotees of Sarupathar visit the temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and offer special prayers and chant mantras. Others observe a day-long fast in remembrance of the Lord on Hanuman Jayanti. Lord Hanuman is an epitome of belief, trust, and devotion. On this day, devotees pray to imbibe these qualities in their lives and lead a principled life.

DEMOW: Sri Sri Hanuman Jayanti Mahotsav celebration started in Demow Bibah Bhavan premises from Wednesday with a three-day long programme. The programme started with Mangal Kalash Yatra on Wednesday morning and after that different competitions were held among the students in Demow Bibah Bhavan premises.

On Thursday, the pujan praramb was performed which was followed by Akhand Astrayam Hari Kirtan and after that Ram Nam competition was organized among the students. On the concluding day on Friday, the programme started with pujan and after that prasad was distributed. Hawan Kirtan was done and during the evening a colourful cultural procession was taken out from Demow Bibah Bhavan which passed through the main thoroughfares of Demow. During the night, a cultural programme was organized in Demow Bibah premises where the artistes performed.
