Hardcore dacoit arrested from a pharmacy of Barpeta town

BARPETA: The mastermind of the Majdiya truck hijack case, hardcore dacoit Altaf Khan was caught on Tuesday from a pharmacy of Barpeta town.

On June 14, a truck (AS-01 HC- 4090) was going from Lakhra to Sibsagar. At Majdiya, Barpeta, goods worth Rs 10 lakh were looted from the truck by five persons - Altaf Khan, the driver, handyman and two others. The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Samiran Baishya earlier was able to arrest Sahidul Islam, the driver, Amzad Ali, Phulchan Khan and Jakir Ali. Based on their confession, police arrested Altaf Khan from a pharmacy at Barpeta town. He was absconding since one month. He was produced in the court on Wednesday.
