Golaghat: Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated COVID-19 Hospital in Golaghat on Friday. Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, State Health Minister Pijush Hazarika reviewed COVID-19 preparedness in the hospital. In the inauguration programme, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially discharged 4 COVID-19 patients out of 9 patients after they tested negative. Sarma said that on April 14 swap tests and other COVID-19 related tests of 9 patients were done. Out of them 3 persons were again found positive. 4 patients who were found negative in the test were released and were on another 14-day quarantine period.

During the quarantine period, the family members could visit them. Further, he said that as many as nine Covid-19 patients from the State were successively released after following ICMR guidelines. 3 patients from Sonapur, 2 from Goalpara and 4 patients from Golaghat were discharged. On April 22 or 23, all patients of Golaghat will probably get discharged, said Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Notably, 9 persons who attended Nizamuddin Markaz event were found positve after the tests. In this context 50 persons came into contact with the persons who participated in the Nizamuddin event.

Addressing the media, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the hospital set up for child and maternity is going to be used for COVID-19 patients. This hospital has 56 quarantine beds, 40 isolation beds and 24 ICU beds. Sarma further said that after stopping of COVID-19 outbreak, Swahid Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital would permanently get 10 to 15 ICU beds which would benefit the people of Golaghat. The Health department will also build a new 300-bedded building by breaking the old building of the hospital.
