‘Healthy Mother, Healthy Children Needed to Make Nation Strong’ - PG Jha

JOYSAGAR: “A healthy mother can raise healthy, honest and brave children and thus make our nation strong. Hence the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry was keen to observe the National Nutrition Month throughout the country,” said Sivasagar Deputy Commissioner PG Jha while explaining about the NNM Programme which is underway in Sivasagar district since September 1.

The awareness meeting on NNMP was held on Sunday in the Sivasagar District Social Welfare Department head office premises in the Babupatty area of the town. District Welfare Officer Deepali Devi chaired the meeting where DC Jha took part as chief guest. Hundreds of government health workers, Civil Hospital ANM-GNM nurses and government doctors also participated in the meeting.

Sivasagar Joint Director of Health Services and also the TTMP, Dr.M Islam Bora and Subdivisional Medical Officer Dr. Anamuddin Ahmed (TTMP, Joysagar) said that the government had been giving importance in the tea garden zones where the NNMD scheme was going on so that the overall health and maternity services in the garden areas could be improved.
