MANGALDAI: Items for daily use like clothes, bed sheets, mosquito nets, buckets, study materials etc. were distributed among nearly 200 families of Soto Nagaon village- one of the worst flood-affected areas under Mangaldai revenue circle, under the joint initiative of local NGO Crystal Vision and the Mangaldai parliamentarian, assisted by Oil India Limited.

Mattress, tarpaulin and blankets were also distributed separately to elderly citizens and persons with disabilities. Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia ceremonially distributed the materials at a public function organized at the Hargaon Bishnu Mandir campus of the village on Wednesday afternoon.

Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Saikia appealed to the flood-affected villagers to keep in touch with the Gram Pradhan and other government officials so that they could avail the cash benefits as announced by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He also assured the people to repair the weak irrigation sluice gate and damaged roads of the locality.

Several prominent persons, including Pratap Bordoloi, chairman of Mangaldai Development Authority, Jintu Baruah of the district OBC Board, office bearers and members of Crystal Vision were also present on the occasion.
