Helpline number launched for informing about manufacturing and selling of illicit liquor

GUWAHATI: Continuing the effort to put a check on the instances of illegal liquor across the state, the Commissioner of Excise, Assam vide letter has launched a statewide WhatsApp helpline number 9435052381 on which anyone can inform about manufacturing and selling of illicit liquor. It has also been instructed to the concerned department officials to initiate action thereon at the earliest.

Meanwhile, according to the Excise Department at Cachar district, three raids were conducted on February 28 and eight persons were arrested taking the total tally of arrests to 65 and 77 cases were registered after 19 raids conducted since February 22. In the list of seized items include 305.35litres of I/D liquor, 3530 litres of F/Wash, 19 D/A sets and 3630 litres of IMFL, stated a press release.
