Here are the list of Government of Assam, Holidays for the year 2020

The Assam Cabinet on Tuesday approved the official holiday list for the year 2020. As per the list, over 5 lakh government employees will enjoy 35 official holidays and 31 restricted holidays in 2020 calendar holidays.

A restricted holiday or optional holiday is a holiday optional for an individual employee where he/she can decide whether to take the leave on that day or not. The days earmarked as Shilpi Divas, Tithi of Gopal Dev, Karam Puja, Ali Ai Lilang festival among others are restricted holidays as per the 2020 holiday calendar list for government employees. It is on these particular event days, that an employee who are connected or associated with the events can avail the restricted holidays in 2020.

In addition to the second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays in 2020 calendar with Indian holidays when government offices remain closed, the employees will enjoy a total of 113 holidays in 2020. Besides this confirmed holidays, the General Administration Department (GAD) and Deputy Commissioners can also declare one or two holidays in a year.

The Assam Cabinet also approved the Bamboo and Cane Policy to boost bamboo cultivation and bring about a green revolution in the state. Under this policy, the Assam Government will initially go for bamboo cultivation at 1000 hectares of land. The Government also aims at providing an incentive of Rs 2.40 against every sapling planted by the bamboo cultivators. While 50% of the incentive will be provided in the first year of cultivation, the rest of 20 and 30 percent will be released in a phased manner.

The Cabinet further approved 50 subsidies for those involved in advanced breeding and farming pigs and goats. While approving the Financial Autonomy to Veterinary Farm Policy to boost private investment in veterinary sector, Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting made it mandatory for industries and factories in the state to provide free napkins to their female employees and workers.
