Here's how the Nagaon Police's usage of the 'Binod' meme is winning the internet

Guwahati: Catching criminals and using memes to pour salt on their wounds has become emblematic of the police team from Assam's Nagaon. In recent times, the official Twitter handle of the Nagaon police has come alight with "meme material" posts a la the Mumbai Police, which inarguably set the precedent when it comes to such word wizardry.

This time, the Nagaon Police has used the trending "Binod" meme to great effect and has left Twitterati spellbound with its clever play on words. After nabbing a couple of suspected drug smugglers and seizing a batch of outlawed substances, the Nagaon police, weaving spells with words on Twitter, wrote, "Team Nagaon chased down two #binod traffickers and recovered more than 250 grams of suspected #binod from beneath the driver seat of a Bolero Pickup Vehicle. Actions being taken to apprehend entire #binod gang."

Although the usage of the word "binod" in this particular tweet might seem random and unnecessary to the naked eye, a more perceptive individual will be able to spot its relevance. It is, in fact, a wink to the mega-popular "binod" meme that has been taking the internet by storm.

The trend allegedly started when a YouTube channel, Slayy Point, shared a video where creators Abhyudaya and Gautami Kawale, decided to roast the comments section of Indian YouTube videos. In the video titled "Why Indian Comments Section is Garbage (BINOD)," published on July 15, the creators showed their subscribers some of the strangest comments they have received. They highlighted a comment from a user named Binod, which simply had his first name "Binod" in the comments section.

Netizens, meanwhile, have hailed the Nagaon police for their binod (ahem) efforts in nabbing the culprits. At the same time, they have also lauded the police force for its clever play on words. "Fantastic Job Nagaon Police... Always proud of ur Bravery...Let's make our Nation & Society #DrugFree#Binod", wrote one user, while another said, "Binod police we are binodful for your binodwork and binoddment. Hail binod!"

"Awesome Assam police Nagaon police. Even during the times of Corona you are so actively involved in doing all things to remove anti-social activities form the society", wrote one user called Kalpa Choudhury.

Thus, it has become amply clear that the Nagaon Police force has been staying "up to date" with the ongoing trends, 'Binod' being the prime example.
