SARUPATHAR: On the basis of a secret input of a drug dealing at Simalu Chapori area of Golaghat-Karbi Anglong border, a trap was laid for the operation led by Trinayan Bhuyan, SDPO Sarupathar and officer-in-charge of Barpathar police station along with other police staff on Saturday evening. During the operation, 25 grams approx of suspected heroin was recovered from one person who was identified as Chutukon Chetia, son of Nagen Chetia of Dighalhaku Makum in Tinsukia district.

However, during the interrogation, the police again received input and apprehended two more accused from Barpathar near Dhansiri bridge. They were identified as Bhima Panika, son of Mohon Panika, of Santipur in Karbi Anglong district and Nanda Murah, son of Gathia Murah of Silonijan in Karbi Anglong district and recovered again 25.64 grams approx of suspected heroin from their possession on Sunday.

Subsequently, the recovered suspected heroin, one motorcycle bearing registration no AS 09 G 0650, and other items were seized and the three accused were booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Meanwhile, the SDPO Trinayan Bhuyan said, "War against drugs is on, although the recovered quantity is less in those cases yet it can be regarded as a crucial success to unearth the activities of drug peddlers operating in Dhansiri Subdivision and their linkage with Karbi Anlong, Golaghat, and Dimapur in Nagaland. However, the three-drug paddlers were apprehended and brought in the police custody for further interrogation."
