Heroin seized in Tinsukia district, four peddlers arrested

TINSUKIA: An operation against illegal drugs was conducted by the Deputy Superintendent of Police of SB HQs and his staff on Monday in various places of Margherita and Jagun of Tinsukia district and apprehended 4 peddlers with huge cache of drugs. They were assisted by Hemanto Kr Boro, DSP (HQ), SI Chitraranjan Buragohain of Tinsukia PS, SI Bikramjit Pegu of Doomdooma PS and SI Jitumoni Baishya of Makum PS. During the operation approx 45 grams of heroin were recovered from Diamond Baruah, S/O Lt. Vijendra Baruah of Makum Pather under Margherita, approx 216 grams of heroin from Netra Bahadur Chetry, S/O Lt. Hari Bahadur Chetry of Kotha Sema, Jagununder Lekhapani PS along with cash of Rs 4 lakh, from Dipankar Mann, S/o Lt. Yuvraj Mann of Makum Pather, Margherita PS and approx 11 grams of heroin were recovered from Mridul Dey alias Bhai Chetia of Hunali Jayanti Deori Gaon, Jagun under Lekhapani PS along with cash of Rs 1.5 lakh.
