Hills Tribe Students’ Association organized torchlight rally against ST Bill

A Correspondent

Haflong: Demanding immediate withdrawal of the Constitution Scheduled Tribe (Amendment) Bill ST Bill, 2019 and to stop granting ST status to advanced and populous six communities of Assam, a torchlight procession was organized by the Hills Tribe Students’ Association (DSU/HSA/ABSATSA/HKSA/KSU/KSA) in association with CCTOA on Friday. The procession was led by HTSA president Pramith Sengyung.

It started from Haflong Municipal Board Field, popularly known as Lal Field, and proceeded through Haflong Town up to Council Rotary and to Synod Rotary and finally converged at the Lal field again.

Terming the Constitution Scheduled Tribe (Amendment) Bill, 2019 as unfortunate, Sengyung said they would be compelled to launch greater democratic agitation if the government failed to pay heed to their appeal.
