JORHAT: State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday launched a mobile application named COVID Suraksha App in Jorhat to monitor the activities of the people kept in home quarantine.

Sarma, along with Jorhat Lok Sabha MP Tapon Kumar Gogoi, Tezpur Lok Sabha MP Pallab Lochan Das and Rajya Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, visited the zonal screening centre at Siu-Ka-Pha Samannya Kshetra, Mohbandha area in Jorhat district and took stock of the situation there.

Sarma said, "This app will help the administration to monitor the activities of home quarantined people. The quarantined people will have to download this application in their mobile phones and to send reports regularly to the administration about their quarantine position. They will also send selfies from home as per instruction by the administration to prove that they have maintained COVID- 19 home quarantine rules issued by the government."

He added, "It mandatory and very necessary that all home quarantined people maintain the government rules to stop spread of COVID-19. We will take strict action immediately against those who violate these rules." Sarma also visited the historic Dhekiakhowa Bornamghar, took part in Srimanta Madhavdeva's birth anniversary programme and offered prayers. Sarma said, "This historic namghar was established by Srimanta Madhavdeva and I am happy to be here today on the birth anniversary of this great Vaishnavite saint."
