The meeting took place in Delhi on 19th of January, Thursday. The meeting has been arranged at a time when Pradyot Deb, who shined as a leader of the indigenous communities in the state, is being attracted by BJP and Congress-CPM alliance for the polls.
Following the meeting, Himanta Biswa Sarma sought to lessen its importance, mentioning that matters related to Tripura BJP are being handled by a separate team of the party. Sarma further stated that, for matters related to BJP in Tripura there is well defined team.
TIPRA Motha is not a part of NEDA, he added. However, Pradyot asserted that he will never step back for the demand for a separate state, no matter whatever comes on the way. He further claimed that, until they don't receive a written statement regarding the acceptance of a separate state, the party will not come into alliance with anyone.
The party will not agree on to any sort of negotiations over the prime demand just for the sake of alliance, added Deb. When Deb was asked about forming alliance with BJP, after the demand is being fulfilled, he mentioned that, not only BJP but the government of India has to assure the same in written.
The meeting took place on the day a murder of TIPRA Motha supporter in the state intensified tension between BJP and Tipra Motha. Pranajit Namasudra was allegedly killed on Wednesday. However, no hidden political agenda behind the murder has come forth but the timing of the meeting has given rise to speculations.
