Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday prayed for Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Uggratara Devalaya in Guwahati.

After offering prayers, he spoke media and apprised them that he prayed to seek blessings for the good health of the Prime Minister.

''Along with Bhabesh Kalita & colleagues joined Rudra Yagya at Ugratara temple for the long life of Adarniya PM Sri Narendra Modi Ji. A man who is tirelessly working for Maa Bharti with blessings of a billion people can't be harmed by unscrupulous elements,'' he said in a Facebook post.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's (PM) Punjab rally was called off on Monday after a security breach due to a protest.

The Union Home Ministry in an official statement had said that there was a security breach during Prime Minister's visit to Punjab.

The Prime Minister landed in Bathinda this morning and was supposed to travel to National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter after incessant rain and poor visibility.

"PM waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear out. He proceeded to travel by road after necessary confirmation of necessary security arrangements by the DGP Punjab Police," the MHA statement read.

''The PM was stuck on a flyover for nearly 20 minutes after the road was blocked by some protesters,'' the statement read.

However, in this regard, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) taking cognizance of this serious security lapse has sought a detailed report from the state government.
