Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad, Asom burns effigy of Dr. Hiren Gohain in Lakhimpur

LAKHIMPUR: Noted intellectual figure of the State, Dr. Hiren Gohain faced the wrath of Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad, Asom (HYCPA). Alleging that he had extended support to Sharjeel Imam, the Lakhimpur district unit of the organization burnt the effigy of Dr. Hiren Gohain on Wednesday at Main Chariali of North Lakhimpur town.
By staging the protest, HYCPA Lakhimpur district unit president Jugmajyoti Dutta and general secretary Madhav Das flayed Dr Gohain’s alleged attempt of exonerating Sharjeel Imam who was arrested for making inflammatory remarks against Assam and the north-eastern region. The organization demanded the government to take the issue with due importance.
The organization further alleged that Dr Hiren Gohain had advocated separating Assam from India before. As per the organization, he could not be the well-wisher of Assam and India and hence he should be boycotted from any public event and meeting.
