
MANGALDAI: “Today is a significant day for the cross-section of people, not only of Khairabari but of Udalguri district as the largest well-decorated and well-designed ‘Bathou Thansali or Bathou Mandir has been inaugurated in a holy and highly spiritual atmosphere at Chinakona village and this Bathou Mandir, constructed at the approximate cost of Rs. 300 lakh, will surely be a spot of religious pilgrimage and an attractive point of spiritual tourism. I, on this historic day, heartily appeal to all the evil minds of the society to shun all evil thoughts and deeds from their minds to build a society based on moral values and ethics,” said Executive Member of BTC for Transport, Cooperation and Soil Conservation, Jagadish Sarkar while inaugurating the main pandal of the 6th Bathou Maha Sabha and Hirimba Bathou Thansali (Mandir) at village Chinakona near Khairabari in Udalguri district on Saturday. Hirimba Bathou Thansali – largest of its kind in the State - has been constructed at the approximate cost of Rs 300 lakh.
The inaugural function of the Hirimba Bathou Thansali has been arranged synchronizing with the 6th Bathou Maha Sabha with a two-day long detailed programme on Saturday and Sunday. Rajya Sabha member Biswajit Daimary, Speaker of BTC Assemblym Nerson Boro, Maheswar Boro and Charan Borom both the legislators of Kalaigaon and Mazbat, Executive Member Lwmshrw Daimary, media person Bhargab Kumar Das and Akhil Kalita and a number of dignitaries and religious personalities of the Bathou religion also attended the inaugural day’s programme.
BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will take part in the second day’s program on Sunday and will dedicate the Hirimba Bathou Thansali amidst traditional rituals. A large number of devotees in their traditional national attire took part in the function.
