Home voting begins for elderly, PwDs in Sonitpur ahead of April 9 polls

TEZPUR: In the run-up to the Assam Legislative Assembly Election scheduled for April 9, the Office of the District Election Officer, Sonitpur, has commenced a four-day home voting exercise starting on Wednesday. The initiative aims to facilitate voting for senior citizens aged 85 years and above, as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) across the district. A total of 2,154 voters, including 1,735 senior citizens and 419 PwDs, will be covered under this home voting exercise. The exercise was formally inaugurated at the residences of 86-year-old voter Ramen Barua near Church Field, Tezpur, and Dulal Borah, a PwD voter residing at Bishnu Rabha Path, Kamarchuburi, Tezpur.
