BONGAIGAON: Recovery of a huge cache of arms from the dense forest of Chirang just two days ahead of the BTC polls has created panic in the area.
The arms were recovered during a search operation launched by Chirang police led by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Chirang, assisted by CI Runikhata and OC Runikhata PS. As per police sources, the operation was launched inside the jungle of Chirang Reserve Forest located towards the north-western side of village Sidhapara under Runikhata PS.
"In this operation, one M20 pistol with magazine, three 9MM factory-made pistols with three magazines, two 7.65 MM factory-made pistols with one magazine, two Chinese hand grenades, two no. of 36 hand grenades, nine AK series live ammunition, seven 9MM live ammunition, two rounds 7.65 live ammunition, four 7.62×25 live ammunition and 10 rounds of other live ammunitions were recovered. There were found from a trench," the source said.
