Human trafficking racket busted, girl rescued from village in Arunachal Pradesh by Assam Police

Gossaigaon: A seven-year girl was rescued by Assam Police on Tuesday in Kathalguri village of Gossaigaon subdivision. According to sources, on March 26, the girl and her sister (17) had gone to a nearby market for shopping where two persons - Aakash Ali alias Raju (28), son of Manirul Islam, resident of Chotapara village under Jogigopha PS of Bongaigaon district, and Safiqul Ali (30), son of Abdul Mannan Sarkar, resident of Tulsibil Tengnarvita village under Gossaigaon subdivision, abducted them and took them to Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal. Later, the accused sold the seven-year girl to a family in a village in Arunachal Pradesh at Rs 20,000.

While returning back, their car met with an accident in Helelm village at Biswanath Chariali and the 17-year girl was injured. She was brought by the police for medical check-up. Later, the police, based on the inputs of the girl, rescued her seven-year old sister from Arunachal Pradesh. The two human traffickers were also arrested.
