IED recovered near NH-315 at Lekhapani in Tinsukia district

JAGUN: An improvised explosive device (IED) of around 3 kg was recovered near NH-315 at Lekhapani in Tinsukia district on Thursday morning. The IED was found hanging in the bridge side of Lekhapani national highway under Lekhapani Police Station.

Meanwhile, a team of 9th Rajput Rifles rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area from both sides. Bomb diffusion squad from Tinsukia Dinjan reached the location and managed to detonate the IED in an open field area of Lekhapani. According to sources, the recovery of the explosive caused major traffic congestion in the area, leading to great inconvenience for the locals. Investigation is on.
