IIT Student Death Case: Autopsy Report Declares Natural Cause Of Death

GUWAHATI : The recent IIT-Guwahati death case took a turn as the cause of death has come to the surface. The autopsy report received finally has now declared that the student died due to 'chronic coronary insufficiency'.

The institute revealed the autopsy report and mentioned it in the latest statement. In the statement, IIT-G expressed their heartfelt condolences to the deceased's family. 

The deceased was a student of Btech final year in Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. He was found dead in his own hostel room on 9th of January 2023. 

The body was spotted at around 4:30 pm in the Dihing hostel inside the institute premises. According to the reports, the student was 22 years old and was pursuing his bachelors under the department of Chemical Science and Technology. 

The deceased hailed from Nagpur, Maharashtra. The officer in charge of Amingaon police station informed that, the deceased was found in an unconscious state by a hostel mate inside the campus. 

When the hostel mate tried to wake him up, the deceased did not show any movement. A case was registered and investigation was initiated after the occurrence. 

However, the police did not find any sort of trace or injuries in the body while the process. This is the second death report from IIT-G in less than a month. 

In December 2022, an assistant professor died inside his quarters in the institute premises on 9th of December, Friday. A team of police arrived at the institution after getting information about a foul smell from inside the professor's quarter. 

After breaking door from outside, the body was found dead and the body was already getting decomposed. The deceased has been identified as Dr Sameer Kumar, a mathematics professor. 

The SP suspected that the deceased might have died 2-3 days back by committing suicide. However, stated the case will conclude after the autopsy reports.
