BARPETA: All of us know it clearly that selling blood and paying the donors is against the law. But despite this, there is an illegal market of blood donation operating where blood donors are being allured by the brokers to donate blood in exchange of 500-1000 rupees. This type of blood donation is allegedly going on at Fakharuddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAAMCH) by the brokers. And there is a chance of involvement of the workers of FAAMCH blood bank. The incident came to light at Barpeta town recently. It may be mentioned that the locals of Ghoramara hati of Barpeta town wrote a complaint letter against one Chinmoy Das, who allegedly has been alluring youths to donate blood and trap them under his grip. Chinmoy duped the youths to donate blood repeatedly (2-3 times) in a month. He has duped them emotionally and told that in the name of humanity they should donate blood and save those who are in trouble. But he never took the donors to the patients' guardians. In Barpeta town, Jaan Das, Mon Das, Ratul Das became the victim.

And off late, one Satyajit Das of Barpeta town was compelled to donate blood by Chinmoy Das' insistence. As a result he lost his life. Again another youth Nayan Das has been suffering from dangerous disease as he was also forced to donate blood by Chinmoy Das. In this way he has been running his business in the FAAMCH campus. It is worth mentionable that without the involvement of the workers of FAAMCH (Blood Bank), it is not possible to run such a business. The blood bank perhaps has shown artificial scarcity of blood in order to run this black market in the FAAMCH with the help of the accused Chinmoy Das. The allegation letter was given to Barpeta Sadar Police Station and to the Deputy Commissioner of Barpeta to take necessary action against Chinmoy Das.

On the other hand, the FAAMCH authorities have lodged an FIR against Chinmoy Dasfor the alleged unlawful business that is going on in the campus. In this regard the superintendent of FAAMCH formed an internal committee to look into the matter.
