Illegal cough syrup bottles seized from a carrier van in Bongaigaon

Bongaigaon: Bongaigaon district police recovered a large number of illegal cough syrup bottles from a carrier van on Tuesday. Nabajyoti Ray, IC, Boitamari police outpost, said that they recovered the cough syrup during random checking. "A carrier van (AS-25-AC-1013) coming from Guwahati side was checked on suspicion and 3,947 bottles of Ownrex cough syrup were recovered. Two persons in the van, namely Praneswar Narzary, resident of Matong village under Salbari PS of Baksa district, and RupamDas from Kahilipara area of Guwahati, were arrested. During preliminary interrogation they said that they were carrying these cough syrup bottles from Guwahati to Chapar area of Dhubri district. Someone would have received the van at Chapar from them," the IC said. Police registered a case and started investigation.
