JAGUN: The smuggling of timber continues unabated in the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh boundary area of Jagun in Tinsukia district.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was launched on Saturday morning by Lekhapani Forest Department and Jagun Forest Department under the Digboi Forest Divisional range. A Bolero pick-up vehicle bearing registration number 3228, loaded with illegal timber along with a modern saw machine, was seized from Wara village of Tinkupani reserve forest in Jagun. The forest department team apprehended four persons, namely Raja Pegu (39) of Karpumpuli village in Jagun, Raj Pegu (35) of Namphai village in Jagun, Subash Sangkurang (26) of Namphai village and Om Prakash Padum (26) of Namphai village in Jagun.
