Illegal transport of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) foiled by Excise Department in Silchar

Silchar: A major attempt of illegal transport of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) was foiled by the Assam State Excise Department officials today upon receiving prior reports from the state Excise Intelligence Bureau.

In connection to this illegal transport of IMFL at Silchar Railway Station, the Excise Department officials recovered a mail van of the Indian Postal Department bearing number TR-01 J 1889 registered with Tripura state transport which was used as a prime means to pass on the IMFL.

The State Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has praised the operational team which carried out this successful raid & brought into light this treacherous act of crime of using postal vans for such purposes.

The Minister has also ordered a high-level enquiry for this act & has assured the nabbing of all culprits in connection with this crime at the earliest.

Minister Suklabaidya has also informed that the department is committed to a transparent model of governance and hence such theft of tax on liquors will be treated under the zero-tolerance policy.
