Illegal wooden logs worth Rs 4 lakh seized from LPG carrying truck in Tezpur

Tezpur: The Forest Department on Monday seized illegal wooden logs worth Rs 4 lakh from Balipara area under Sonitpur District.

Following the seizure, it has also come to light that the illegal smugglers are now using domestic cylinder carrying trucks for a safe passage and transport of the illegal wood logs from Arunachal Pradesh.

A truck bearing registration number AS 12E 1888 have been seized by the Amaribari forest department today at Tezpur. As per forest department, the truck was heading to Tezpur via Arunachal Pradesh’s Bhalukpung area.

The forest department also apprehended the driver and the handyman from the spot. They were identified as Anil Rabha and Kamal Das.

Speaking to the media, the Forest Department officials stated that they were following the truck from Chariduwar area at around 3 am in the late night hours and apprehended them at Balipara area thereafter.

It may be mentioned that the truck was fully covered with a tarpaulin, later, the forest officials found that the truck belongs to LPG Indane Gas Company.
